Orange Instruments Limited

Orange Instruments was established in 1975 and began by designing and manufacturing industrial control and monitoring electronics.  We soon developed a number of close relationships with key clients such as Rolls Royce.

During this period Orange Instruments developed an expertise in process control systems, based around micro-controllers and programmable logic controllers.  Control systems were designed for a wide and varied range of industries including food, beverage, pharmaceutical, chemical, and petrochemical applications.

During the 1990's Orange Instruments continued to expand the process control business to include the design and build of hazardous area systems for the world wide oil and gas industry.  This work led to the successful design of an actuator and a hand held calibrator which Orange Instruments successfully obtained a ATEX licence for.

Orange Instruments changed ownership in 2002 and with substantial initial investment, relocated to a purpose build office and factory.  The strategy of the new owners is to not only continue to provide total commitment to the existing customers but also to increase the customer portfolio by adding contract design and manufacturing.

This has allowed Orange Instruments to offer a full design and contract manufacturing service for equipment requiring both electrical and mechanical involvement. 

This brings together the full expertise of Orange Instruments.

Orange Instruments still design and manufacture process control electronic instruments based on latest micro-processor technology. Our specialist area is actuator valve positioners including ATEX certified units for hazardous areas.  

We can also provide a design and build service for custom electronic instrumentation to provide solutions to client requirements.
Orange Instruments provide expertise in the design and manufacture of industrial control panels incorporating various PLC’s. Orange Instrument’s PLC software engineers are highly competent in most controllers available on the market including Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi and Schneider.

In-house Instrument engineers are also familiar with assembler code PIC, Forth, C++. HMI software application further contributes to the company’s portfolio of skills. Orange Instruments can also provide software validation where required.

We also have expertise in design and manufacture of systems suitable for flammable hazardous areas – all ATEX certified. We can offer a bespoke design service for enclosures complying with ATEX Ex’d’ explosion proof hazardous environment requirements, Zones 1 and 2.

Orange Instruments also manufacture pipe work systems. The company’s expertise is primarily with PVC pipe work. Orange Instruments have designed and machined special manifold blocks and instrumentation assemblies. The design and manufacturing teams also have engineers who are certified with Swagelok.
